Turning Point?
On December 3rd of this year, a Somali suicide bomber most likely from Al Shabab, blew himself up at a graduation ceremony in Mogadishu (http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/8392468.stm). The destruction claimed at least 22 people, including 3 government ministers, and several trained doctors just about to graduate. This shocking tragedy may have some positive consequences. From the reactions of ordinary Somalis with whom I have spoken here in Nairobi, I see folks turning away from the pragmatic stance of being willing to follow whichever group wins the war, toward a decisive attitude against Al Shabab. Let's pray with and for the Somali people that the Lord would turn this curse into a blessing, and allow the beleaguered Somali people some rest from war.
